New EP "Roberta" Available Now!
The time is finally here! Er...was here. Last week. I just didn't update this page. Oops.
But the album is out! It's called "Roberta," and it's the first in a series of three EPs, each of which will focus on a different character in our overarching story. This EP tells the story of a transwoman living in the 1940s, who finds love with a stagehand for a traveling sideshow.
"Roberta" contains two fan-favorite songs from our lineup, plus a brand-new, never-before-heard instrumental interstitial bridging the two of them. The album kicks off with "Freakshow," a heavy dance-punk anthem with hooks and bizarre guitar rhythms galore. It then transitions into the softer, emotional song "Different Constellations," a duet between myself and Jo Kroger (plus some accordion for good measure).
As you likely already know, we also released a music video for "Freakshow," animated by our own bassist David Warpaint. You can check that video out embedded below this post.
And last but certainly not least, we're doing something a little different with this series of EPs when it comes to the physical release. We're not printing any CDs, or vinyl, or casette tapes...instead we're making chapbooks, with download codes inside.
Why a chapbook? Well, given the storytelling nature of our band, we wanted to reward fans with a little bit extra about the characters that we're writing about. So I've written a 30-page short story about Roberta and her partner Rosie, which fills in the details about the characters we're singing about on the album. The book also contains illustrations, lyrics, and album credits. Plus, it's just a really cool, well-made little unique collectible for you to hold onto.
If you want a copy of the book, you can order a physical copy along with an instant download at our bandcamp page. Also, any digital-only downloads from bandcamp include a PDF and ebook copy of the book!
If you're not into the story and just want the fucking music already, you can also purchase or stream the album on any digital music platform, including iTunes, Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon, Google Play, Tidal, etc.
